Research project

Inference of gene expression regulation from 3D genomic contact data

Description

As part of a NSERC-funded research project, the successful candidate will develop statistical methods to infer gene expression regulation mechanisms from 3D genomic contact data obtained by technologies such as single-cell Hi-C. This research is motivated by studies of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder conducted at the CERVO Centre and focuses on brain tissue. A research co-supervision will be set up to provide expertise in genomics and/or health sciences.

Research Field

- Statistics and Probabilities
- Epidemiology and biostatistics
- Bioinformatics

Research Supervisor

Alexandre Bureau

Research Environment

CERVO Brain Research Centre

The student will be in the Personalized Neuromedicine Centre of the CERVO Brain Research Centre, where he or she will benefit from the support of professional biostatisticians. The student will have the opportunity to participate in seminars, journal clubs and other scientific meetings at the CERVO, the Institut intelligence et données, the Department of social and preventive medicine and the Department of mathematics and statistics, on topics such as statistical genetics, data science, biostatistics, epidemiology and psychiatry.
