Research project

Pharmacogenomics and precision oncology

Description

Graduate students are sought to join the research team of the Canada Research Chair in Pharmacogenomics. Research spaces are located in the Genomics Center (R block) and in block T for the analytical-metabolomic portion of the CHU de Québec – Université Laval Research Center (CHUL Pavilion).

The research will be conducted within the multidisciplinary research group led by Dr. Chantal Guillemette, a full professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université Laval. The research is both fundamental and translational in nature. We study patient cohorts as well as preclinical models.

The research program aims to tailor pharmacological treatment to the patient's profile and disease by discovering predictive response markers and gaining a better understanding of the clinical and molecular factors affecting their response. Our research also aims to discover new prognostic markers to better target cancer types (such as prostate, bladder and leukemia), allowing us to identify new therapeutic targets that can be exploited to prevent or delay cancer progression.

List of publications for which students are the primary authors:

The research student will:
-Take the lead and contribute to one or more innovative research projects in the fields of pharmacogenomics and precision oncology;
-Be responsible for and actively participate in one or more research projects using various approaches;
-Contribute intellectually to the development and implementation of research;
-Learn various laboratory techniques and data analysis methods in omics and clinical research, according to their career objectives. Our research is multidisciplinary and utilizes cutting-edge technologies in genomics, metabolomics, and proteomics, as well as data integration;
-Participate in the writing of scientific manuscripts;
-Present research results at local, national, and international conferences;
-Receive training tailored to their career goals, supported by a team of highly qualified professionals.

The individual will be required to apply for scholarships.
